HUNTINGTON, WV -- The University of Delaware women’s soccer team continued its hot start with a 2-0 win over Morehead State University in the Thundering Herd Nike Invitational hosted by Marshall University on Friday afternoon.

The Hens (3-0) have won their first three games for the first time since 1994, when they won their first five.

The game remained scoreless through the first half until Delaware’s Kasie Shover notched her first career goal off of a free kick into the lower lefthand corner of the net.

Just over three minutes later, senior co-captain Lindsay Boyd tapped in a cross pass from freshman Melissa Kilker to put the Hens up 2-0. The goal was Boyd’s third in the last two games following a two-goal game against Seton Hall at home on Sunday.

Senior Bonnie Mills (right) made five saves to register her seventh career shutout. Mills has now allowed only one goal on twenty-six shots through the first three games this season.

The game was the 300th in the history of the women’s soccer program, which played its first varsity game in 1990.

The Hens will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on the host Marshall University in the conclusion of the Thundering Herd Nike Invitational. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
