HARRISONBURG, VA -- Sophomore Kasie Shover scored her third goal of the season with 55 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to lead the University of Delaware women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over James Madison on Sunday afternoon.
Lindsay Boyd led the Hens (7-3-2, 2-2 CAA) with four shots, while Bonnie Mills made eight saves for her fifth shutout of the season.
The game remained even throughout regulation and the first overtime period. Delaware was outshot 14-11 leading into the second overtime, but held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
With 55 seconds remaining in the second overtime, Shover (right) lofted a shot over James Madison goalkeeper Diane Wszalek into the far right corner of the goal to give the Hens their first overtime win of the season.
Wszalek made six saves in the loss for the Dukes (5-6-1, 1-2-1 CAA).
The Hens will return to action on Friday when they host George Mason at 7 p.m.
