WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- The College of William and Mary scored two goals in the second half to post a 2-1 victory over the University of Delaware women’s soccer team on Sunday afternoon in a Colonial Athletic Association match.
The Tribe’s Katie Hogwood scored her second goal of the season at 61:23 to give William and Mary the lead. Less than nine minutes later, Claire Zimmeck scored her ninth of the season to increase the lead to 2-0. Zimmeck also assisted on Hogwood’s goal, and led the Tribe with six shots.
The Tribe’s was cut in half with an own goal at 81:02. After the own goal, however, the Hens were unable to score the equlizer.
Kellie Fenton made four saves to earn the win for the Tribe (6-2-5, 4-1 CAA), while Lindsey Shover (right) tied her season high by making nine saves in the loss for the Hens (6-4-2, 3-2-0 CAA).
The Hens will return to action this Friday when they host Virginia Commonwealth. Game time from Newark is 7 p.m.
