| NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women’s soccer team is ranked 14th in the latest Soccer Buzz Magazine Mid-Atlantic Poll released this week.
The Blue Hens (6-4-2, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) enter the rankings for the first time in the 2005 season. Delaware is one of five teams from the CAA to appear in this week’s rankings. The Hens are led by senior Shelby Lawrence and freshman Caitlyn Germain, who are tied for the team lead with seven points apiece.
Undefeated Penn State is first in this week’s poll, followed by Virginia, West Virginia, Villanova and Old Dominion. The Hens defeated Old Dominion 3-2 last Friday night in Norfolk.
The Hens will return to action this weekend when they host Virginia Commonwealth on Friday at 7 p.m. and James Madison Sunday at 1 p.m. Both opponents are also ranked in this week’s regional rankings.
