Delaware Ranked No. 7 in Latest NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll

MISSION, KS-- The University of Delaware women’s soccer team is ranked seventh in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Poll released this week.

The Blue Hens appear in the coach’s poll after a one week hiatus. They had been ranked 10th the week of October 18 before dropping from the rankings. The Hens are also currently ranked 9th in the Soccer Buzz Mid-Atlantic rankings.

The poll is headed by undefeated Penn State and followed by Virginia, West Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth and Villanova, respectively. VCU is the highest of three teams from the the Colonial Athletic Association ranked in the top 10. Also appearing from the CAA is James Madison at No. 6. The Hens re-enter the poll following a 4-0-1 end to the regular season during which they allowed only one goal.

The Blue Hens are led by freshman Caitlyn Germain and sophomore Alli D’Amico, who have scored five and four goals on the season, respectively. In addition, senior goalie Lindsey Shover has a 0.97 goals against average and six shutouts for the season.

The Blue Hens advanced to their first ever CAA Tournament Semifinal on Tuesday night after dropping William & Mary in a shootout following a 1-1 tie through double-overtime. The Hens will return to action on Friday when they take on Hofstra in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament. The match will 8 p.m. at Virginia Commonwealth’s Sports Backers Stadium.
