BROOKLINE, MA -- Sophomore Kendall Lytwynec (right) and senior Shelby Lawrence each tallied goals as the University of Delaware women’s soccer squad stayed unbeaten in Colonial Athletic Association play with a 2-1 victory over host Northeastern Friday night.

Lawrence (St. Francis DeSales/Columbus, OH) scored her second goal of the season off a feed from Melissa Kunisky 23 minutes and 21 seconds into the game to give the Blue Hens the lead for good and Lytwynec(Newark/Newark, DE) added some insurance with an unassisted tally 20minutes into the second half to lift Delaware to its second straight
victory.

Delaware improved to 5-2-2 overall and moved to 2-0 in CAA play, winning their first two games in league action for the first time since the 2002 season when the Hens advanced to the CAA quarterfinals.

CAA newcomer Northeastern fell to 3-6-1 (0-2 CAA) with the loss. Laura Johnson scored just 28 seconds after Lytwynec’s second half goal but the Huskies could never tie it up after that.

Northeastern outshot the Hens 11-7 but Delaware goalkeeper Lindsey Shover posted six saves, her second highest total this season, to pick up the victory. Northeastern goalkeeper Mariel Wilner posted four saves in the loss.

The Hens be looking to start out 3-0 in league play for the first time in school history when they take on Hofstra Sunday, Oct. 2 at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
