NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware women’s soccer standout Jennifer Krepps (right) has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 2 All-Academic first team.
Krepps, a senior defender from Lansdale, PA (North Penn High School), was one of 23 student-athletes honored on the two teams and is now eligible for the national Academic All-American team.
To be honored, student-athletes must carry a 3.2 or better grade point index, be a starter or key reserve for her team, and have at least sophomore eligibility. District 2 includes all NCAA Division I schools in Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Krepps, who was named to the District 2 All-Academic squad for the second straight year, carries a 3.92 grade point index as a biological science education major with a minor in nutrition.
A four-year letterwinner and a four-year part-time starter, Krepps appeared in 60 career games with 46 starts and scored four goals while dishing out two assists. She started all 20 games during the 2005 season and scored her only goal in a 1-0 win over James Madison. She paced a defense that allowed just 0.93 goals per game and recorded seven shutouts.
The Blue Hens posted a record of 10-6-4 for head coach Scott Grzenda and placed third in the Colonial Athletic Association regular season standings with a mark of 7-3-1. Delaware defeated William & Mary in the CAA quarterfinals before falling to eventual CAA champion Hofstra 2-1 in the semifinals.
Krepps is a three-time member of the CAA Academic Honor Roll and is a Dean’s List student at Delaware. She earned the team’s UD Sportsmanship Award in 2003.
