Delaware Track & Field Athletes Rank Among Leaders in CAA

RICHMOND, VA -- Several University of Delaware outdoor track and field athletes are ranked among the leaders in the latest top times list released by the Colonial Athletic Association Tuesday.

The annual CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held April 22-3 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

The Delaware men had 16 athletes ranked in the top 10 led by freshman Kyle Casella, whose throw of 14.64 meters in the shot put ranks second among all CAA competitors. The Blue Hen women had 16 athletes ranked in the top 10 led by Colleen O'Brien, who is second in the 1,500 meters (4:35.96) and sixth in the 800 meters (2:18.69), and Casey Bennett (right), who is ranked No. 2 in the pole vault (12-0).

Also for the UD men, Mike Yost is third in the discus (150-6), fifth in the hammer (171-01), and seventh in the shot put (14.10m), Adam Cianfichi is third in the javelin (189-0), Brad Dodson is fourth in the 1,500 meters (3:52.34) and sixth in the 800 meters (1:54.59), Jay Bradley is fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (15.21), Chris Dixon is fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (54.97), sixth in the 110 meter hurdles (15.47), and 10th in the 400 meters (49.91), and Charlie Williams is fifth in the 400 meters (49.39).

Also, Phil Smiley is fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (54.99), Eric Lehrer is fifth in the javelin (170-10), Pat Henry is sixth in the 200 meters (22.14), Tony DiUlio is seventh in the discus (136-10), Tyler Mayforth is eighth in the 10,000 meters (32:19.90), Matt Guida is eighth in the pole vault (4.25m), Andrew Lynch is eighth in the discus (135-4), Hao Guan is ninth in the hammer (135-9), and Jay Marino is 10th in the javelin (145-1).

Also for the UD women, Kate Klim is No. 3 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:37.32), Rayna Horsey is fifth in the 100 meters (12.53) and ninth in the 200 meters (25.54), Amy Hischman is sixth in the javelin (118-0), Asha Quant is sixth in the long jump (18-3 3/4), Amy Miller is seventh in the pole vault (10-0), Colleen Reid is seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:29.74), Brittany Wright is seventh in the 200 meters (25.45) and 10th in the 400 meters (59.10), and Julianne Twomey is eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (13:24.96).

Also, Rachel Young is eighth in the hammer (125-3), Reagan Hastings is eighth in the pole vault (9-10), Kristen Frustillo is ninth in the 400 meters (59.01), Kaitlin McGowan is ninth in the pole vault (9-10), Beth Moore is 10th in the pole vault (8-0 1/2), Lisa Weeks is 10th in the shot put (39-10 3/4).

Both Delaware mens' and women's teams will take part in their final tune-up before the CAA meet this Saturday, April 16 when they compete in the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, NJ.
