Young Wins Discus, Bennett Breaks Own Pole Vault Record of UD Women

EWING, NJ -- Freshman Rachel Young won the discus and shot put and Casey Bennett broke her own school record in the pole vault to highlight University of Delaware competitors at the Lion's Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey Saturday afternoon.

Her mark also qualified her for the ECAC championships May 13-16 at Yale and for the NCAA Regionals May 28-29 at the University of Florida.

Also posting top 10 finishes for the UD women were Kristen Collins' (Magruder/Gaithersburg, MD) third place finish in the high jump (5-1), Vicki Hufnagel (Ellenville/Napanoch, NY) was sixth in the 100 meter hurdles (15.37), Stephanie Cronk (Boonton/Boonton, NJ) was sixth in the hammer (128-5) and 10th in the discus (114-7), and Jessica Urbonas (Rockville/Vernon, CT) was sixth in the discus (118-11).
