Bennett Wins Pole
Vault with Record Height; Stille Sets Hurdles Record
Again
COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Casey Bennett won the
women's pole vault with a school record height, teammate
Mandy Stille broke her own school record in the 100
meter hurdles, and Patrick Riley won the men's 5,000 meters
to highlight University of Delaware performances at the
Terrapin Outdoor Track and Field Invitational at the
University of Maryland's Kehoe Complex Saturday
afternoon.
In all, the Delaware women posted 23 top
10 finishes while the UD men had 16 top 10 finishes.
Maryland captured the women's team titl with 184.5 points
with Delaware placing second in the 19-team field. Rhode
Island won the men's team title with 118 points followed by
Rutgers (116), Maryland (74), Shippensburg (70), and
Delaware (51) in the 19-team field.
Bennett was Delaware's only women's
individual champion as she jumped 11-5 1/4 in the pole
vault, taking first place and breaking the school record of
11-0 by Carol Oliveri in 2001. Stille placed second
in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.59, breaking her
own school record set last week. Riley led the Blue Hen men
as he won the 5,000 meters for the second straight week with
time of 14:49.7.
Also for the Delaware women, the 4 x
100-yard relay team of Kristen Frustillo, Vicki Hufnagel,
Daniella Price, and Elizabeth Russell placed
second with a time of 48.56, Christine Kowalchuk was
third in the javelin (122-11), the 4 x 400 meter relay team
of Brittany Wright, Stille, Tyechia Smith, and
Price was third in a time of 4:00.47, Smith was third in the
400 meters (58.38) and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles
(1:08.36), Stille was fourth in the 400 meter hurdles
(1:05.87), Wright was fourth in the 100 meters (12.53) and
seventh in the 200 meters (26.00), Stephanie Cronk
was fourth in the hammer (138-6), sixth in the discus
(115-1/2), and eighth in the javelin (103-8 1/2), Kristen
Collins was fourth in the high jump (5-1), Toni
Riggi was fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase
(12:23.77), and Jessica Urbonas was fifth in the
discus (119-9) and sixth in the javelin (112-4).
Also for the Delaware men, Peter Kane was
second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:20.44), Mike
Sadowsky was second in the 5,000 meters (14:59.3), Jerome
Holder was third in the 110 meter hurdles (14.89) and in the
400 meter hurdles (55.30), Mike Yost was third in the hammer
(173-7) and fifth in the discus (143-9), Chris Dixon was
fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (15.03) and 400 meter hurdles
(56.53), and Matt Arbaugh was fifth in the pole vault (11-11
3/4).
