Blue Hens Compete
in Two Relays
PHILADELPHIA - The University of Delaware
women's outdoor track and field team competed in two relay
events Thursday at the first day of the Penn Relays at the
University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field.
The Blue Hens placed sixth out of eight teams in its heat
in the 4 x 400 meter relay and finished seventh out of nine
teams in its heat of the 4 x 100 meter relay.
Delaware's 4 x 400 meter relay team of Kristin
Frustillo, Tyechia Smith, Daniella Price, and Rachel
Schultz ran to a time of 3:55.82 to place sixth out of
eight teams. North Carolina A&T won the heat in a time
of 3:46.03 while Eastern Kentucky was second in a 3:49.6.
Delaware's time was just 1.58 off the team's best mark of
3:54.24 this season.
In the 4 x 100 meter relay, Delaware's group of
Elizabeth Russell, Smith, Frustillo, and Price ran to
a time of 49.01 to place seventh out of nine teams in the
heat. Louisiana State won the heat with a time of 44.51
while Virginia was second in 46.08 and Penn State was third
in 46.63. Delaware's time was just .92 off the team's best
mark of 48.09 this season.
Both the Delaware men's and women's team will be
competing at the Penn Relays again Friday with the UD women
competing in the 4 x 200 meter relay and sprint medley relay
and the men taking part in the 4 x 100 meter, 4 x 400 meter,
and 4 x 200 meter relays. In addition, senior Jon
DiNozzi will be competing in the pole vault.
