Amanda Marshall Wins Two Events, Four Blue Hens Win Once To Lead Blue Hen Women's Outdoor Track Team At Towson Invitational

TOWSON, MD -- Amanda Marshall won the hammer and shot put while eight other Blue Hens captured one event as the University of Delaware men’s and women’s track teams competed in the Towson Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Marshall won the hammer with a throw of 148-7 and the shot put with a throw of 40-7 3/4 to pace the Delaware women’s team. Kelli McDonald took the pole vault with a leap of 10-0 for the Blue Hens, Cristine Marquez captured the 800 meter run in 2:17.27, Asha Quant won the 200 meter dash in 26.30, and Christina Antonopoulos captured the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:45.15.

Laura Chirico finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 10-0 while Daniella Price placed second in the 200 meter dash in 26.40. Qaunt finished third in the 400 meter dash in 1:01.77 while Alexi Capsouras came in fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:05.77.

Liz Harvin was fourth in both the 400 meter dash in 1:02.27 and the 200 meter dash in 26.87, while Stephanie Cronk placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 109-9. Annie Fulton was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 34-1 1/4, while Annie Kowtoniuk finished fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 12:10.94 and Yianna Antonopoulos placed fourth in the 1500 meter run in 4:55.38.

Jared Wasser won the shot put with a throw of 48-3 1/4 to lead the Delaware men’s team, while Brandon Swartout took the long jump with a mark of 22-3 3/4, Chris Bourke captured the 5,000 meter run in 15:24.20, and Dave Schwartz won the hammer with a throw of 146-2. Doug Alpers was second in the discus with a throw of 143-5 and Steven Jackson placed second in the 400 meter dash in 50.70.

Alpers was third in the shot put with a throw of 46-2, Chase Renoll came in third in the discus with a throw of 135-11, Conrad Rapp finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 14-0, Nick Pyle placed third in the 10,000 meter run in 32:15.19, and Phil Weigel was third in the 1,500 meters (4:07.09).

Chris Dixon finished fourth in the 400 meter dash in 51.26, while Wasser was fourth in the discus (131-0) and fifth in the hammer (123-9), Renoll placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 44-2 3/4, Matt Arbaugh was fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 13-6, and Matt O’Brian was fifth in the 5,000 meter run in 15:45.36.

Both Delaware outdoor track and field teams will compete in the Winthrop Invitational Thursday though Saturday and in the Maryland Invitational next Saturday.
