BETHLEHEM, PA -- The University of Delaware women’s outdoor track and field team captured six first place finisher, including two by hurdler Alexi Capsouras, and Brandon Swartout won the men’s long jump as the Blue Hens competed at the Lehigh University Games Saturday afternoon at Goodman Track.
Capsouras was Delaware’s lone double-winner as she won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.98 and captured the 400 meter hurdles with a clocking of 1:05.33. Also capturing first place for the UD women were Amanda Marshall in the discus (141-0), Kelli McDonald in the pole vault (11-5 3/4), and Kellyn Wright (at right) in the 800 meters (2:19.00). Swartout was the lone Delaware men’s performer to win his event as he captured the long jump with a leap of 21-7 1/4).
Marshall also placed fifth in the hammer (149-6) and sixth in the shot put (38-7) while Rachel Young placed second in the discus (139-0), fourth in the shot put (41-1 1/2), and fourth in the hammer (151-3), Annie Fulton was second in the triple jump (35 1/4) and fifth in the long jump (16-1 1/2), Laura Chirico was second in the pole vault (11-5 3/4), Stephanie Cronk was third in the discus (125-2), seventh in the hammer (141-7), and ninth in the javelin (108-7), and Christina Antonopoulos was third in the 800 meters (2:19.82).
Also for the Delaware men, Chase Renoll was second in the discus (154-3) and 11th in the shot put (44-5 1/2), Matt Guida was third in the pole vault (13-11 1/4), Kevin Kemmerle was third in the 5,000 meters (15:49.30), and Doug Alpers was third in the discus (144-8) and sixth in the shot put (48-5 1/2).
