Christopher, Marra Take Firsts for Hens at Millersville Metrics Track Meet

 

MILLERSVILLE, PA -- Colleen Christopher won the long jump and Caron Marra won the 1,500 meters to lead the University of Delaware women to a ninth place finish and Eric Sands took two top five finishes to lead the UD men to a seventh place finish at the annual Millersville University Metrics Track Meet Saturday at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Shippensburg captured the men's team title with 94 points followed by Millersville, Kutztown, Bucknell, and Towson in the 19-team field. The Blue Hens placed seventh with 34 points. Kutztown captured the women's meet with 107 points followed by Shippensburg, College of New Jersey, Towson, and Lehigh in the 15-team field. The Blue Hens placed ninth with 34 points.

Christopher won the long jump with a leap of 16-11 while Marra won the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:39.19. Also for the Hens, Kristin Robbins was third in the 800 meters (2:17.89) and Aimee Alexander was fourth in the 1,500 meters in 4:53.54. Janna Mattey placed sixth in the pole vault with a school record jump of 9-6.

In the men's meet, Eric Sands was second in the discus (150-3) and fifth in the shot put (46-10 1/2) while Andrew Johnson placed second in the 400 meters (50.54) and Chris Miller was second in the long jump (21-1).
