Quinn Takes 4th in
High Jump
PHILADELPHIA - Annemarie Quinn placed
fourth in the high jump and Mike DiGennaro broke his
own school record by placing seventh in the 3,000 meter
steeplechase to lead the University of Delaware men's and
women's outdoor track and field teams at the first day of
the Penn Relays Thursday at the University of Pennsylvania's
Franklin Field.
Quinn (Strath-Haven/Wallingford, PA) led all Delaware
finishers by placing fourth in the women's high jump with a
leap of 5-7. Farah Jean-Pierre of Florida International won
the event with a leap of 5-9 ¼.
DiGennaro (Hamilton-Wenham/Essex, MA) placed seventh
overall in the steeplechase, running to a time of 9:00.42 to
break his own record of 9:10.32 set last season. Also for
Delaware in the steeplechase, Robb Munro (Sidney
Central/Sidney, NY) placed 21st in a time of 9:14.09.
In other action involving the Delaware women, Caltha
Seymour (A.I. duPont) was 17th in the hammer throw
(149-3), Caron Marra (Newark HS) was 23rd in the
3,000 meters (9:58.89), and Aimee Alexander
(Carmel/Stormville, NY) was 27th in the 5,000 meters
(17:17.49).
In relay events, Delaware's 4 x 100 meter relay team of
Denise Brijbasi (Suitland/Temple Hills, MD),
Colleen Christopher (Ursuline), Jen Lublanecki
(West Morris/Long Valley, NJ), and Tehera Nesfield
(DelVal/Springdale, MD) was second in its heat (49.77)
behind winner Lafayette (49.76); the 4 x 400 meter relay
team of Laura Dietrich (Northeastern/York, PA),
Lublanecki, Noelle Lytwyn (St .John Vianney/Matawan,
NJ), and Amber MacNeill (Downingtown/West Chester,
PA) was eighth in its heat (4:12.09) behind winner East
Stroudsburg (3:57.82); and the 4 x 800 meter relay team of
Marra, Jen Krisch (Great Valley/Malvern, PA),
Krista Kugler (A.I. duPont HS), and MacNeill placed
33rd overall (9:40.49).
Delaware's men will compete in a full day of events
Friday at the Penn Relays while the UD women will close out
their participation by running the 4 x 200 meter relay.
