PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore attack Courtney Aburn (at right) scored on a feed from Emily Schaknowski with 2:45 left in regulation to give the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team a 9-8 come-from-behind victory over Temple on Tuesday afternoon at Geasey Field.

Senior midfielder Katie Muth scored a team-high three goals for UD (4-2), which fell behind 5-3 at halftime and trailed 7-5 with just 19 minutes left before scoring four of the game's last five goals. Senior attack Casey McCrudden and sophomore attack Nicole Flego added two scores apiece for the Blue Hens.

Sophomore midfielder Chelsea Rosiek netted four goals and dished out two assists to lead Temple (3-3), which had a two-game win streak snapped despite out-shooting Delaware 20-14 and forcing 19 Blue Hen turnovers. Midfielder Whitney Richards contributed two goals and two assists in the setback.

The Hens won their fourth straight over Temple dating back to the 2003 season, as four of the squads' last five meetings have been decided by one goal. UD improved to 2-0 on the year against Atlantic 10 teams. Delaware head coach Kim Ciarrocca, who coached at Temple from 1993 until 2004 and led the Owls to six NCAA Tournament berths, is now 2-0 against her former team and alma mater.

Temple jumped out to an early lead, taking command at 5-2 when Rosiek found the net for the second time 3:59 before the halftime whistle. Delaware freshman Julianna Jeffers answered in the final seconds of the period, as she beat Owl goalkeeper Bridget McMullan at the buzzer to trim the deficit to two.

The teams traded goals to start the second half, and Temple went up 7-5 on Brittney Hoffman's goal at the 19:03 mark. But Muth wouldn't be denied, scoring on a pass from Aburn with 16:23 left in regulation and tying it up on a free position shot just 43 ticks later.

McCrudden helped Delaware maintain its momentum when she found open space and rocketed a shot past McMullan at the 13:49 mark, giving the Hens their first lead since early in the opening stanza. The teams traded possession in the midfield for several minutes before Rosiek knotted the score again with just over four minutes left.

UD won the ensuing face-off to set up Aburn's heroics, which gave the Hens their second one-goal win of the season.

Delaware dominated the draw control battle, winning 14 of 18 face-offs.

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny made five saves to preserve the win for Delaware, which returns to the field on Sunday for a trip to Virginia Tech.
