RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware senior midfielder Katie Muth, who scored nine goals and added two assists in two Blue Hen victories this week, was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week on Monday.
Muth (at right) netted a career-high five goals and assisted on two others in Delaware's 16-11 triumph over Drexel on Friday evening, scoring three times in a five-minute span midway through the first half. She fired a team-high six shots in the UD win, picking up two ground balls and two draw controls.
Muth continued her hot streak with four goals in an 11-7 come-from-behind victory at Hofstra, as she kept UD in contention with three first-half scores before the Hens staged a furious rally after intermission. She took seven shots and collected two ground balls for Delaware (8-3, 2-1 CAA), which has won five of its last six games.
The 2007 All-CAA second-teamer has tallied 19 goals and seven assists on the season for 26 points, third-most on the squad. When she found the net on a feed from Emily Schaknowski with 5:01 left in the first half at Hofstra, Muth recorded her 100th career goal. She ranks 19th in school history with 134 career points.
Muth has been named CAA Player of the Week two times before - on April 2 of last season and on March 19, 2006.
In other league news, William & Mary's Emily Geary was honored as the CAA Rookie of the Week.
