NEWARK, DE -- Freshman Courtney Aburn (at right) posted her fifth straight multi-goal game with three scores and Debbie Sloan, Casey McCrudden, and Katie Muth each scored twice as the No. 20 University of Delaware women's lacrosse team recorded a 12-6 Colonial Athletic Association win over William & Mary Friday night at Rullo Stadium.

The Blue Hens, who remained unbeaten at home this season with a 5-0 mark, improve to 7-4 and remained among the CAA leaders with a 3-1 mark. The five straight home wins is the most by a Blue Hen team since the 2000 team went 8-0 during the regular season.

William & Mary (2-10, 0-3 CAA), which lost its sixth straight game, got two goals each from Kristen Wong and Emily Vitrano.

Delaware would score the games first two goals and hold William & Mary scorless for the first 16 minutes to jump out to a 2-0 lead. After Vitrano got the Tribe on the board, the Blue Hens tallied the next four goals to take a 6-1 lead. After two Tribe goals, Sloan would put Delaware up 7-3 going into the half on a free position goal.

Katie Rees posted her eighth goal of the season out of the break to get William & Mary to within three goals, but Aburn completed her hat trick by recording her 21st goal of the season at the 16:30 mark. After a Wong goal, the Blue Hens would go on another 4-0 run to take their largest lead at 12-5. Wong added another goal with 1:39 remaining but the Tribe would get no closer.

Delaware goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny posted 11 saves and improved to 7-3, while Sara Beckstead stopped 12 Delaware shots in the loss.

The Blue Hens will return to action Sunday when they host Old Dominion at 12 noon at Rullo Stadium.
