BALTIMORE -- The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team, which split two Colonial Athletic Association road games this past week, stayed at No. 20 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and moved into the No. 19 spot in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll announced Monday.
The Blue Hens opened the week with a 15-11 CAA victory at George Mason Friday but had five-game win streak snapped in a 19-16 loss to then No. 6 James Madison on Sunday. Delaware (6-4, 2-1 CAA) will host William & Mary Friday and Old Dominion Sunday this week at Rullo Stadium.
Northwestern (8-1) remained at the top of both polls, earning all 15 first place votes in the IWLCA poll and 13 of 14 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll as Maryland also received a first place vote.
In the IWLCA poll, Maryland was second followed by North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Pennsylvania, James Madison, Penn State, Georgetown, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, Denver, Rutgers, Connecticut, and Delaware.
In the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll, Maryland was No. 2 followed by Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, James Madison, Penn State, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, Denver, Rutgers, Delaware, and Connecticut.
