Delaware Women at No. 20 in Nike/Inside Lacrosse Poll; Receive Votes in IWLCA Poll

athlete photoBALTIMORE -- The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team, which has won four of its last five games and qualified for a spot in the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, received votes in the weekly Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 20 poll and was picked No. 20 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll.

The Blue Hens (10-5) will close out the regular season this Friday, Apr. 27 at home vs. Villanova at Rullo Stadium before heading to the CAA Tournament May 4-6 at either James Madison or Hofstra.

Delaware, which had a four-game win streak snapped in a 15-9 setback to Drexel Sunday, dropped in both polls after being picked No. 20 last week in the IWLCA poll and No. 18 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll.

Northwestern was once again the top pick in both polls, earning all 15 first place votes in the IWLCA poll and all 14 first place votes in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll.

In the IWLCA poll, Pennsylvania was at No. 2 followed by Maryland, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Syracuse, James Madison, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Yale, Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Penn State, Rutgers, Denver, Ohio State, Dartmouth, and Connecticut. Delaware has played four of the teams ranked in the top 20.

In the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll, Maryland was at No. 2 followed by Duke, Penn, North Carolina, Virginia, Syracuse, James Madison, Georgetown, Yale, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Penn State, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Denver, Rutgers, Dartmouth, Ohio State, and Delaware.
