NEWARK, DE -- Freshman Nicole Flego (at right) tallied four goals as the No. 20 University of Delaware women's lacrosse team scored four of the games final five goals to post a 9-6 Colonial Athletic Association victory at Rullo Stadium Friday evening.

The Blue Hens (9-4, 5-1 CAA), who move into second place in the CAA standings, remain undefeated at home with a 7-0 mark. The last Delaware team to go undefeated at home for a season was the 2000 team which went 8-0.

Hofstra falls to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play as the Pride have a five-game winning streak snapped. The UD win snaps a four-game losing streak against Hofstra.

Delaware got seven of its nine goals from freshman as Flego scored four times and Courtney Aburn posted three goals. Debbie Sloan and Katie Muth were the other Delaware goal scorers.

Senior midfielder Casey McGrath scored three goals for the Pride.

Hofstra tallied the games first goal as junior defender Kerrin Fraser notched her second goal of the season off a free-position shot nearly seven minutes into the contest. Delaware responded with back-to-back goals from Muth and Flego to take a 2-1 lead. McGrath then scored her first two goals of the game to give Hofstra the advantage back at 3-2. The back and forth first half would continue as Delaware scored the next two goals, including Flego's second of the game with 4:24 left to give Delaware the slim 4-3 lead at the break.

Seven seconds into the second period senior attacker Kimberly Hillier, the Prides assist leader, received her second yellow card and was forced to sit for the rest of the game. However, Hofstra evened the score with McGrath's third goal of the game at the 22:23 mark. After the two teams alternated goals to even the game at 5-5, Delaware broke the game open with four straight goals. Three of the goals were by Aburn who now has 26 on the year and Flego completed her four-goal evening by tallying her team-high 30th.

Freshman midfielder Corrine Gandolfi scored with 4:01 left to cut the UD lead to three, but the Pride would get no closer.

Delaware goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny posted 10 saves, while Maisie Osteen stopped 13 Delaware shots in the loss.

The Blue Hens will return to action Sunday when they travel to Drexel for a 1 p.m. start time.
