NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team won its second straight game Friday afternoon as the Blue Hens held Davidson without a goal in the second half and Casey McCrudden posted her second straight hat trick en route to an 11-3 non-league win at Rullo Stadium.

Delaware goalkeeeper Jessica Cerveny (at right) recorded seven saves and did not allow Davidson to score over the final 36 minutes of the game. It was the first time Delaware had shutout an opponent in a half since an 18-2 win over Drexel on March 5, 2002.

Delaware, which improves to 3-3, scored seven of their 11 goals in the first half. McCrudden posted her 14th hat trick of her career, while Nicole Flego and Katie Muth each posted two goals for the Hens.

Davidson (0-8), which remains winless on the season, was led by Sarah Walter, who posted two goals.

Delaware recorded the first goal of the game as Flego scored off an Emily Schaknowski pass just 1:37 into the game. Davidson responded though by scoring the next two goals as Haley Cook and Walter each scored unassisted goals to give the Wildcats the 2-1 advantage. The Blue Hens wouldn’t trail long though as Delaware scored the next four goals. After Walter tallied her second goal, Muth and freshman Amanda Jones each scored unassisted goals to give Delaware the 7-3 halftime advantage.

Muth and Flego each scored their second goals of the game in the second period and McCrudden added two more to complete a 6-0 UD run to end the game.

The three goals allowed by Delaware is the lowest goal total by an opponent since Delaware defeated Old Dominion, 15-3, April 15, 2005.

Laura Johnson posted 11 saves for the Wildcats.

The Blue Hens next game will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Virginia Tech at Rullo Stadium.
