 RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware freshman Lindyn Soviero (Huntington, NY/Huntington) -at right- was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Soviero, a first-year transfer from UMBC, scored four goals in Delaware’s 15-14 upset over No. 18 Penn State University on Wednesday. She fired in a hat trick and added one assist in the Blue Hens’ 10-9 win over George Mason to earn their first conference win of the season on Friday. Soviero also notched two goals in Delaware’s 16-5 loss to No. 17 James Madison on Sunday.
Soviero, who is receiving this honor for the first time, ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 23 points, including 18 goals and five assists. She has also tallied 19 groundballs and caused four turnovers this season.
The Blue Hens (5-10, 1-6 CAA) will play their final home game of the season on Wednesday, April 19 against Johns Hopkins at 7 p.m. at Rullo Stadium.
