BALTIMORE, MD -- University of Delaware women’s lacrosse seniors Megan Hager and Laura Libertini (at right) have been selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Farewell Festival this Saturday, June 10.
The two will be among 49 NCAA Division I student-athletes taking part in a North-South All-Star game. The game will be played at 3 p.m. at Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood Field. Later that evening, the IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the 2006 National All-Americans at an awards banquet in Baltimore.
In addition to Hager and Libertini, fellow Blue Hen senior Diana Hall was honored as an alternate to the South team.
Hager, an midfielder from Berwyn, PA (Conestoga High School), was named the team’s UD Alumni Association Most Valuable Player earlier this season as well as earning second team All-Colonial Athletic Association and second team All-IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region honors. She ranked second on the team with 38 points on 26 goals and a team high 12 assists. She played in all 17 games with 14 starts, was second on the team with 82 shots, and also recorded 30 groundballs, 21 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers. She scored two or more goals seven times with a career-high five vs. Towson. She was an honor student sport management at Delaware.
Libertini, a defender and co-captain from Parkton, MD (Mt. de Sales High School), was a three-year letterwinner for the Blue Hens. This past season she started all 16 games she played in and scored seven goals and added one assist on 22 shots. She picked up 39 groundballs and led the team with 24 draw controls and with 19 caused turnovers. A nursing major, she scored 25 career goals for the Blue Hens.
Hall, a midfielder and co-captain from Clifton, VA (Centreville HS), was a four-year letterwinner for the Blue Hens and an honor student as a exercise physiology major with a minor in coaching science and strength and conditioning. She appeared in 16 games with 10 starts in 2006 and scored one goal to go with 17 groundballs, six draw controls, and 12 caused turnovers. She missed the entire 2005 season with an injury.
