CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- Megan Hager (at right), a four-year regular for the Blue Hen women’s lacrosse squad who enjoyed her finest season at the University of Delaware this past spring, has been selected to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team.
Hager, a midfielder and attack from Berwyn, PA (Conestoga High School), was the only Blue Hen player named to the teams, which are selected by a committee made up of head coaches from the region. The IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region includes all NCAA Division I teams in Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
An honor student as a sport management major, Hager also was the winner of the UD Alumni Association Most Valuable Player Award in women’s lacrosse earlier this month for head coach Kim Ciarrocca’s squad.
A four-year letterwinner, Hager earned second team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors in 2006 as she ranked second on the team with 38 points on 26 goals and a team high 12 assists. She played in all 17 games with 14 starts, was second on the team with 82 shots, and also recorded 30 groundballs, 21 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers. She scored two or more goals seven times this past season with a career-high five vs. Towson.
She played in 60 career games with 34 starts and collected 52 goals and 32 assists. She tallied 11 goals and five assists as a freshman in 2003, nine goals and seven assists in 2004, and six goals and eight assists in 2005.
Hager was one of 10 CAA players named to the teams - joining first team selections Shannon Witzel and Mandy Corry of Towson, Kim Hillier, Casey McGrath, and Jamie Irving of Hofstra, and second team selections Hillary Fratzke and Becky Trumbo of Towson, and Emily Hoesch and Lauren LaBella of Drexel.
