No. 16 Blue Hens Have Three-Game Win Streak Snapped in 16-3 Setback to No. 4 Princeton

NEWARK, DE -- No. 4 Princeton University women's lacrosse team jumped out to an early three goal lead and never looked back on the way to defeating No. 16 University of Delaware women's lacrosse team on Senior Night at Rullo Stadium in non-conference action. The Tigers' victory snapped a three-game Blue Hen win streak.

Prior to the game, seniors Becky Rausa (Fallston, MD/ Forest Hill), Erin Edell (Glenelg, MD/ Glenelg), Allison Lynch (Annapolis, MD/ St. Mary's), Lindsey Greer (Laurel, MD/ Hammond-right), and Kelly O'Connor (Woodbine, MD/ Glenelg) were honored for their contributions to the program in the last four years.

Delaware (8-6) who remain winless in its last 16 tries against Princeton, received goals tonight from junior Kristin Cellucci (Springfield, PA/ Springfield), junior Megan Hager (Berwyn, PA/ Conestoga), and freshman Casey McCrudden (Voorhees, NJ/ Eastern). Rausa recorded her team-leading 15th assist of the year on Cellucci's goal. Junior Patrice Hughes (Springfield, PA/ Springfield) played the first 48:30 in net making five saves while freshman Jess Dibelka (Bel Air, MD/ C. Milton Wright) made two saves in her 11 and a half minutes of action.

Princeton (11-3) received four goals from Olachi Opara, Ingrid Goldberg added three goals, while Katie Lewis-Lamonica notched two on the night. Sarah Kolodner played just over half the game in net making two saves while Colleen O'Boyle and Meg Murray split the rest of the time making one save combined.

Princeton opened the game on a 3-0 run before Delaware was able to score their first goal. The Tigers added three more goals in the first half to outscore the Blue Hens at the break, 6-1. Six different Tigers scored for the visiting team in the first half.

Princeton extended its lead to 8-1 start the second half before the Blue Hens knocked one home. Down 9-2, McCrudden was awarded a free position shot after Tigers' goalie Kolodner was given a yellow card and McCrudden connected for her team-leading 28th goal of the year. That would be the last goal Delaware would get as Princeton scored seven unanswered times in the final 20 minutes on their way to the victory.

The Tigers held a 30-10 advantage in shots and a 29-17 advantage in groundballs.

Delaware returns to action when the Blue Hens travel to Hofstra on Saturday, April 30 to take on the Pride in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, game time in Hempstead, NY is set for 12 noon.
