No. 1 Princeton 15, Delaware 8 March 30, 2004 Top Ranked, Two-Time Defending National Champion Princeton Downs Delaware Women's Lacrosse, 15-8 Game Boxscore PRINCETON, NJ -- Lindsey Biles notched five goals and two assists and All-American attack Theresa Sherry scored two goals and two assists for No. 1 ranked Princeton as the Tigers downed the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team, 15-8, in non-conference women's lacrosse action Tuesday evening at the Class of 1952 Stadium. Princeton, the two-time defending national champion, improves to 8-0 on the year and has won 17 straight games dating back to a loss to Yale on April 13, 2003. Delaware suffered its third loss in as many games and falls to 2-6. Freshman Stephanie McQuade scores first collegiate goal in loss to No. 1 Princeton The Tigers, who own a 16-4 all-time record versus the Blue Hens, jumped out to an early 3-0 lead off two goals by Biles and one from Tara Hardiman. Freshman Stephanie McQuade (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) scored her first career goal as a Blue Hen at 15:21 for the Hens' first score of the contest. Biles would find the back of the net two more times for the Tigers before the end of the half as Princeton took a 9-3 lead into halftime. Delaware, playing a No. 1 team for the first time since falling to Loyola (MD), 12-8, on March 14, 2003, opened the second half with two quick scores by sophomore midfielder Laura Libertini (Parkton, MD/Mt. de Sales) at 28:51 and by freshman attack Jenny Diana (Burke, VA/Robinson) at 27:08 to cut the Princeton lead to 9-5. However, the Tigers responded with two scores of their own from Mary Minshall and Biles at 26:00 and 22:53 respectively as Princeton pulled away for the win. Princeton was led by Biles' seven points while Elizabeth Pillion scored three goals in the Tiger's win. The Blue Hens were paced by Libertini, McQuade, and Diana, who each found the back of the net twice. Diana has now scored at least two points in all of Delaware's eight games this season. Senior attack Michelle Campolettano (Massapequa Park, NY/St. Anthony's) also scored one goal and notched two assists for in the losing effort. Sophomore Patrice Hughes (Springfield, PA/Springfield) and junior Lauren Burtch (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) spilt time in goal for the Hens. Hughes tallied one save while Burtch made six. Princeton held a slight advantage in shots, 30-28, while Delaware had the edge in ground balls, 29-27.
