Third-Straight Win
WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- Junior
Libby Pforr scored four goals and senior captain
Nikki Kucharski dished out five assists as the
University of Delaware downed William & Mary, 17-13, in
Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse action Friday
afternoon at Busch Field.
The win upped the Blue Hens conference
record to a perfect 5-0 and sets up a showdown for
first-place in the conference on Sunday afternoon against
No. 18 Old Dominion, which moved to 5-0 in conference play
with a 15-7 win over Drexel on Friday afternoon.
Junior Shannon Kron and freshman
Kristin Cellucci each added three goals for Delaware,
who won its third-straight game and five of its last
six.
The Blue Hens jumped out to a 4-0 lead
just 4:27 into the game on two goals by both Cellucci and
Kron and carried a 9-5 lead into halftime. Delaware opened a
14-7 lead midway through the half and held off a late Tribe
(1-12, 0-5 CAA) rally which saw them score six of the final
nine goals, including four-straight to end the
game.
Sophomores Becky Zane and Erin
Edell also added two goals for Delaware while freshman
Laura Libertini and Megan Hager, along with
senior Kateri Linville, each posted one
goal.
Allison Evans led William & Mary with
four goals, while Morgan Lang and Lauren Work each scored
three.
The five assists by Kucharski is the most
in a game by a Blue Hen since Jen Rinnander recorded five
against James Madison in 1994.
