Rutgers 12, Delaware 6 March 11, 2003 Libby Pforr Scores Three Times in Blue Hen Loss Lauren Burtch made 21 saves in her first collegiate start in goal PISCATAWAY, NJ - Cristina Curiale dished out three assists and scored both of her goals in a 6-0 run to open the second half in leading Rutgers to a 12-6 non-league women's lacrosse victory over the University of Delaware Tuesday at the Rutgers Turf Field. The Blue Hens, who got three goals from Libby Pforr and 21 saves in goal from Lauren Burtch, fell to 1-2 on the season. Rutgers improved to 1-2. Curiale was one of four Rutgers players with two goals and Claire Grooms and Melissa Mosey each had two goals and an assist and Maggie Bopp added two goals. Pforr, who now leads the Hens with five goals this season, also dished out an assist. The Hens, coming off a 10-9 win over Temple Saturday, also got one goal each from Megan Hager, Erin Edell, and Nikki Kucharski. Burtch, making her first career start, notched 21 saves in goal as Rutgers outshot the Hens 41-32. Pforr scored two of her goals in the first half as the Blue Hens cut the Rutgers lead to 6-4 at intermission after Hager scored a goal with just 33 seconds left before the half. The Scarlet Knights took control of the game early in the second half as Bopp scored just over a minute into the second stanza and Curiale and Jessica Mosey scored goals 31 seconds apart five minutes later to up the lead to 9-4. Two more Rutgers goals increased the lead to 11-4 with 16:13 remaining before the Hens finally got on the board on a goal by Pforr with 15:37 remaining. The Hens will return to action Friday night when they host national power Loyola at 7 p.m. at Rullo Stadium.
