Late Blue Hen Rally For Top 20
Win
BALTIMORE, MD -- No. 7 ranked
Loyola held off a furious late game rally by 11th ranked
University of Delaware for a 10-9 non-league women's
lacrosse victory over the Blue Hens Saturday afternoon at
Curley Field.
The Blue Hens, playing their seventh Top
20 team this season and holding on to hopes for an NCAA
Tournament berth, fell to 11-3 on the season. Loyola, which
captured the Colonial Athletic Association title last week,
won its 11th straight game to improve to 13-2 on the
season.

Senior Christy Buck (Mt. de
Sales/Catonsville, MD), Kate O'Connell (Mt. de
Sales/Columbia, MD), and Sara Hills (St.
Stephen's/Alexandria, VA) each scored two goals to pace the
Blue Hens but top two leading goals scorers Sarah
Edwards (38 goals) and Megan Fortunato (24) were
held scoreless. Edwards did dish out two assists and
Fortunato had one.
Loyola, which defeated the Hens for the
fifth straight year, got three goals each from Stacey
Morlang and Krissy Warnock. Goalkeeper Tricia Dabrowski
notched a career-high 15 saves.
The Blue Hens trailed 4-2 at halftime but
rallied and cut the lead to 5-4 on a goal by Corinne
Shuck (Broadneck/Annapolis, MD) with 22:14 left to play
in the second half.
But the Greyhounds took control of the
game, scoring three straight goals and four of the next six,
including two by Morlang, to go up 9-6 with 12:08
remaining.
The Hens made one last push as Buck
scored with 5:45 left and Hills converted with 1:54
remaining to cut the lead to 9-8. Delaware had one last
chance to tie the game but a free position shot with 48
seconds left was knocked away and the Greyhounds held out
for the win.
Delaware will resume play April 25 at
Temple.
