Places Third in Weight Throw to Lead
Delaware at George Mason

FAIRFAX,
VA -- University of Delaware weight
throwers picked up a total of 10 top 10
finishes Saturday at the Father Diamond
Track and Field Invitational Saturday at
George Mason University.
The meet
featured some top teams in the East as
well as the University of Texas.
Delaware's weight throwers were the only
Blue Hen athletes who competed at the
meet.
Leading
the way for the Delaware men was senior
Mike Yost (Lake Forest/Felton, DE) who
placed second in the weight throw with a
toss of 51-11 and was sixth in the shot
put with a throw of 44-10 3/4. Mike
Zyvoloski of UMBC won the competition with
a toss of 52 3/4.
For the
Delaware women, sophomore Rachel Young
(Sparta/Sparta, NJ - at right) led the way
with a third place finish in the weight
throw (40-5 1/2) and a ninth place finish
in the shot put (35-8 3/4).
Also for
the Delaware men, freshman Kyle Casella
(Bishop Eustace/Lindenwold, NJ) was sixth
in the weight throw (43-8 3/4) and 10th in
the shot put (39-9 3/4) and senior Hao
Guan (Cape Henlopen/Milton, DE) was
seventh in the weight throw (40-0 1/2) and
11th in the shot put (39-6
1/2).
Also for
the Blue Hen women, freshman Lisa Weeks
(Donegal/Mt. Joy, PA) placed fourth in the
shot put (39-6 1/2) and fifth in the
weight throw (40-1 1/4) and sophomore
Stephanie Cronk (Boonton/Boonton, NJ) was
sixth in the weight throw.
Delaware
will return to action Jan. 22 when the
Blue Hens host the Delaware Invitational
#2 at the Delaware Field House.
