Wright Wins 55 Meters in Record Time to Lead Delaware at George Mason Winter Games

FAIRFAX, VA -- University of Delaware sophomore Brittany Wright (right) captured the 55 meter dash with a school record time of 7.20 seconds to lead the Blue Hen women's indoor track and field team at the George Mason University Winter Games Sunday afternoon.

Wright, a sophomore from Voorhees, NJ (Eastern HS), ran to a winning time of 7.20 to break the Delaware record of 7.21 set by Dionne Jones in 1989. She also placed fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.80.

Wright, who has now captured nine meet titles this season, also qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference regional championships with her winning time. The ECAC meet will be held March 5-6 at the Reggie Lewis Track Complex in Boston.

Also for the Delaware women Sunday, Domonique Carter placed third in the long jump (16-3 1/2), fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay (4:03.10), and fifth in the 400 meters (1:05.67), Kristen Frustillo was fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay and 10th in the 55 meters (7.64), Rayna Horsey was fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay, sixth in the 200 meters (26.33), and eighth in the 55 meters (7.60), and Asha Quant was fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay, fourth in the 400 meters (1:04.87), and fifth in the long jump (15-10).
