Alexander, Chiller, Cardillo All Claim Titles for UD Women

 

PRINCETON, NJ - The University of Delaware women captured three first place finishes and Jon DiNozzi was the top men's finisher with a second place finish in the pole vault to highlight Blue Hen performances at the Princeton University Indoor Track and Field Invitational Saturday at Jadwin Gym.

Senior Aimee Alexander (Carmel/Stormville, NY) captured the mile run (5:09.04), junior Jennie Chiller (Sharon/Sharon, MA) won the weight throw with a toss of 50-5 1/2, and junior Liesje Cardillo (Bishop Eustace/Marlton, NJ) was the winner in the long jump with a leap of 17-8 1/2) for the Blue Hen women. Chiller won the weight throw for the fourth time in five outings this season. The UD women had 16 top six finishes at the meet.

Finishing second for the Blue Hen women were Tyechia Smith (McNair/Jersey City, NJ) in the 200 meters (26.93), Sarah Johnson (RHAM Regional/Hebron, CT) in the 1,000 meters (3:08.21), and Diethra Seymour (A.I. duPont/Hockessin, DE) in the weight throw (49-7 1/4). Smith also placed third in the 400 meters (59.54).

The Delaware men garnered seven top six finishes. Leading the Blue Hen men was junior Jon DiNozzi (Fox Lane, NY/Middletown, DE) who placed second in the pole vault with a height of 15-9. Also for the Hens, freshman Jim DelGrosso (Salesianum/Wilmington, DE) placed third in the high jump with a leap of 6-6 3/4.
