Chiller Wins Weight Throw to Pace Blue Hens

 

LEWISBURG, PA -- The University of Delaware men's and women's indoor track and field teams each picked up one individual victory Saturday afternoon at the Bucknell University Octagonal meet.

The Delaware women placed fifth out of eight teams, trailing team champion Bucknell (195 points), Temple, UMBC, and Maryland-Eastern Shore with 50 points. On the men's side, the Blue Hens placed seventh behind champion Bucknell (147), St. Francis, UMBC, Towson, Maryland-Eastern Shore, and Lock Haven.

Blue Hen individuals picked up 18 top 10 finishes on the men's side and 12 top 10 finishes on the women's side.

Winning individual titles for the Blue Hens were Mike Sadowsky (Brandywine/Wilmington, DE), who won the men's 5,000 meter race in 15:27.84 and Jennie Chiller (Sharon/Sharon, MA), who captured the women's weight throw with a toss of 49-6 1/2.

On the women's side, Aimee Alexander (Carmel/Stormville, NY) was second in the mile run (5:13.81), Laura Dietrich (Northeastern/York, PA) was third in the triple jump (35-3 1/4), Jen Krisch (Great Valley/Malvern, PA) was third in the 3,000 meters (11:13.16); Ashley Olsen (Bishop Eustace/Mt. Laurel, NJ) was fourth in the 1,000 meters (3:13.16), and Elizabeth Russell (Red Bank/Little Silver, NJ) was ninth in the high jump (4-11) and 10th in the long jump (15-10).
