Delaware Collegiate Track & Field Invit.

NEWARK, DE - Dave Geesaman won the 5,000 meters and Brandy Connell and Ashley Forlini each set school records to lead University of Delaware performances Saturday and Sunday at the Delaware Collegiate Invitational at Delaware Field House.

The two-day meet consisted of 30 men's and women's team from throughout the East.

Geesaman, an Academic All-American candidate, was the Blue Hens' lone winner, capturing the 5,000 meters Saturday night with a time of 15:02.16. The Blue Hens took home several third place finishes as Butch Patrick was third in the 60 meters (6.90), Troy Bockius was third in the 800 meters (1:57.20), and Jamin Elliott was third in both the triple jump (IC4A qualifying distance of 47-7 1/4) and in the long jump (22-8 1/2). Mike Chadwick was fifth in the 35 lb. Weight throw (51-4 1/4 and Michael Reh was fifth in the high jump (6-6).

For Delaware State, Kevin Dick won the 60 meter hurdles and was second in the 60 meters while Ean Rose captured the shot put.

In the women's meet, Delaware had two second place finishes as Aimee Alexander was second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:32.29 and Brandy Connell was second in the 20 lb. Weight throw with a school record toss of 54-9 1/4. Also for the Hens, Kristen Robbins was fifth in the Mile (5:15.68), Forlini was fifth in the pole vault with a school record height of 9-6 1/4, and the distance medley relay team was second in 12:19.84.

Breanna Levarrty placed fourth in the 60 meters and Monique Brown was seventh in the 60 meter hurdles to lead Delaware State.
