Sue McGrath-Powell enters her 26th season as Blue Hens' head women's cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field coach in 2007-08 having consistently led Delaware to top finishes in conference championship action.

Since 1982, McGrath-Powell has posted impressive marks in all three competitive seasons and led her teams to 10 conference titles overall.

Entering the 2007-08 seasons, she has posted an 81-29 dual meet record in cross country, a 129-50 mark in indoor track and field, and a 34-14 record for outdoor track and field. As well as posting impressive records, McGrath-Powell has been honored three times as conference Coach of the Year for cross country in 1991, 1994, and 1995.

During her tenure at Delaware, McGrath-Powell has led her cross country squads to three conference championships (1990-1991-1995) while her indoor and outdoor track and field teams have captured four (1983-84-90-91) and three (1983-84-91) conference titles respectively.

In addition, she has coached 80 conference individual and relay champions, a two-time Academic All-American in Alison Farrance, 1986 All-American high jumper Candy Cashell, and 13 conference scholar-athletes of the year.

McGrath-Powell earned her bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State College in 1976 and her master's degree from the University of Buffalo. She is an assistant professor in the College of Health and Nursing Sciences at Delaware. She is also a member of the NCAA Track and Field Rules Committee.

McGrath-Powell is married to Charlie Powell, the men's track and field head coach at the University of Pennsylvania. They reside in Wilmington, DE with their son, Shane (15), and daughter, Kayla (6).
