 Riley and Gemmill Top UD Finishers 

CENTREVILLE, VA -- Patrick Riley finished third and Erin Gemmill finished 24th to pace the University of Delaware cross country teams at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at Bull Run Regional Park on Saturday.

  

Erin Gemmill led the Blue Hens with a 24th place finish at the CAA championships Saturday at George Mason

Riley's third-place finish paced the Blue Hen men to a third-place team finish. Riley completed the 8,000-meter course in 24:54.05.

The Blue Hens placed third for the second straight year while Riley improved one spot from his fourth place individual finish a year ago. He has led the Blue Hens in all but one race this season.

Also finishing in the top 25 for the UD men were Mike Sadowsky who placed 11th (25:17.89), Matt Harrell was 13th (25:23.59), and Carl Kinney placed 24th (26:16.34).

William & Mary's Ed Moran and John O'Connor finished 1-2 to pace the Tribe's first-place team finish. The Tribe had six of its seven scoring runners finish in the Top 10 runners to place well-ahead of second-place James Madison. The Dukes and Tribe have finished 1-2 each of the last 11 CAA Championships. It was William & Mary's third consecutive team title.

On the women's side, Gemmill was Delaware's top finisher as the Blue Hens placed seventh in the team standings. She completed the 6,000-meter course in 23:37.38. Gemmill has led the Blue Hens in all but one race this season.

James Madison edged William & Mary for the team title. The Dukes' Mollie DeFrancesco won her second consecutive individual title to lead the Dukes to their fourth consecutive team title. James Madison and William & Mary have finished first and second each of the last seven years.

Other top finishers for the Blue Hens were Kate Klim in 33rd place (24:13.55), Sari Weissbard in 35th (24:27.89), and Lauren Shaub in 50th place (25:07.45).
