NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The University of Delaware women’s cross country team, which captured the team title at the Monmouth Invitational last Friday, remained at the No. 12 spot for the second straight week in the fourth weekly United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Regional polls announced this week.
The Delaware men, who also captured the team title at Monmouth Saturday as Blue Hen senior Kyle Schmid won the overall title, was not ranked in the Top 15 for the second straight week.
Both Delaware teams will continue action this Saturday, Oct. 13 when they host the annual Delaware Invitational #2 at White Clay Creek State Park as part of UD’s Homecoming festivities. The men’s race, which will also include teams from American, Coppin State, Delaware State, Howard, Lincoln, Loyola, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Millersville, Philadelphia University, Temple, and West Chester, will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The women’s race, which will also includes teams from Coppin State, Delaware State, George Masons, Howard, Lincoln, Loyola, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Millersville, Philadelphia University, Temple, Towson, and West Chester, will begin at 11:10 a.m.
Freshman Cassie White (at right) is expected to be among the Blue Hens' top competitors in the meet.
In the Mid-Atlantic women’s poll, Princeton remained the top team for the fourth straight week and was followed by Georgetown, West Virginia, Penn State, Penn, Villanova, LaSalle, Duquesne, Navy, Bucknell, Pittsburgh, Delaware, Saint Joseph’s, Rutgers, and Lehigh.
In the men’s poll, Georgetown remained at No. 1 for the fourth straight poll and was followed by Villanova, Princeton, Penn State, Penn, Navy, LaSalle, American, Duquesne, Bucknell, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Lehigh, Loyola, and Saint Joseph’s.
