BETHLEHEM, PA --- The University of Delaware men’s cross country team finished 12th with 309 points while the Blue Hen women were 16th with 426 points at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Regionals held Saturday morning on the campus of Lehigh University.
P.J. Meany led the Delaware men, who placed 12th out of 28 teams, by finishing 12th in the 10-kilometer race in 30:48.9, while Brad Dodson was 57th in 31:53.0. Kyle Schmid placed 67th in 32:11.6, while Sam MacKenzie came in 69th in 32:13.3. Tyler Mayforth was 104th in 32:49.0, Kevin DuPrey finished 105th in 32:49.7, and Mike Ward placed 168th in 35:07.5.
The Blue Hen women, who placed 16th out of 26 teams, were led by Colleen O’Brien, who finished 14th in the six-kilometer race in 21:08.1. Julia Somers placed 46th in 21:55.4, while Jessica Leitsch came in 106th in 23:16.7 and Liz Paul was 128th in 23:40.3. Renee Gresh finished 132nd in 23:42.4, Allison Behrle was 143rd in 23:59.0, and Brooke MaGuire finished 147th in 24:18.7.
Georgetown captured the men’s title with 45 points, as the Hoyas’ Fleet Hower won the men’s race in 30:03.8. Princeton took the women’s title with 64 points, as the Tigers’ Cack Ferrell won the women’s race in 19:58.3.
Both Delaware cross country teams return to action next Saturday when the Blue Hens will compete in the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt State Park in New York, NY.
