Delaware Women's Cross Country Team Finishes 19th At NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals

STATE COLLEGE, PA -- The University of Delaware men's cross country team finished in 15th place with 484 points while the Blue Hen women were 19th with 541 points at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Regionals held Saturday on the campus of Penn State University.

The Delaware men, who placed 15th out of 23 teams, were led by sophomore P.J. Meany (Hockessin, DE/Salesianum), who finished 60th in the 10-kilomter race in 32:24. Senior Matt Harrell (Middletown, DE/Middletown) was 89th in 33:12, sophomore Tyler Mayforth (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) finished 103rd in 33.44, and sophomore Peter Kane (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck) came in 110th in 33:53. Junior Kevin DuPrey (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) placed 122nd in 34:33, sophomore Kyle Schmid (Lutherville, MD/Towson) was 143rd in 35:33, and senior Jason Gordon (Newark, DE/Christiana) finished 145th in 35:52.

The Blue Hen women, who were 19th out of 24 teams, were paced by freshman Colleen O'Brien (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon), who came in 34th in the six-kilometer race in 22:21. Senior Ashley Olsen (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Bishop Eustace) finished 118th in 24:28, while senior Kate Klim (Cummaquid, MA/Barnstable) was 119th in 24:29 and junior Allison Behrle (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) placed 134th in 25:06. Sophomore Leslie Wason (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) finished 136th in 25:16, junior Brenda Greene (Hanover, MA/Hanover) placed 137th in 25:17, and senior Mary Martini (Hummelstown, PA/Bishop McDevitt) came in 144th in 25:52.

Georgetown won the men's title with 49 points, as the Hoyas' Rod Koborsi took the men's race in 30:24. West Virginia won the women's championship with 63 points, while Pittsburgh's Maureen McCandless won the women's race in 20:26.

Both Delaware teams will be in action Saturday, November 20 at Van Cortlandt State Park in New York, NY. The UD men will be competing in the 1C4A Championships, while the women will participate in the ECAC Championships.
