Klim Finishes Third as Hens Place Second
at Delaware Invitational

--- Sophomore PJ Meany
(Salesianum/Hockessin, DE) picked up his
second victory in as many weeks Saturday
morning as the University of Delaware
men's and women's cross country teams each
placed second in the Division I race at
the Delaware Invitational at White Clay
Creek State Park.
Meany, who
won the individual title at the
season-opening Towson Invitational last
Saturday and was named the Colonial
Athletic Association Runner of the Week,
continued his impressive form as he
covered the eight-kilometer course in
27:01.23, 31 seconds faster than runner-up
Brian Goldberg of Pennsylvania to win the
men's race.
Pennsylvania
placed six runners in the top 10 to take
the Division I men's team title with 20
points followed by Delaware (40), Hofstra
(84), Delaware State (117), and Morgan
State (147). Rochester, led by individual
champion Dan Druett (27:53.76), won the
Division II/III title with 17 points,
besting Richard Stockton, Lincoln, and
Wilmington College.
In the
women's five-kilometer race, Delaware
placed second in the Division I section
with 32 points behind senior co-captain
Kate Klim (Barnstable/Cummaquid, MA - at
right), who placed third overall with a
time of 20:47.19. Hofstra, led by
individual champion Shannon Semski
(19:39.72), won the Division I team title
with 25 points while Delaware was second
and Morgan State was third (78). Rochester
captured the women's Division II/III team
title with 15 points, ahead of Richard
Stockton and Wilmington. Rochester's Chris
Michael won the women's Division II/III
race with a time of 20:03.94.
Also for
the Delaware men, Kyle Schmid was seventh
(28:01.92), Matt Harrell was ninth
(28:19.58), Tim Vitez was 10th (28:22.99),
and Peter Kane was 13th (28:28.29).
Also for
the Delaware women, Allison Behrle was
fifth (21:29.36), Toni Riggi was seventh
(21:47.44), Colleen O'Brien was eighth
(22:00.96), Leslie Wason was ninth
(22:02.11), and Brenda Greene was 10th
(22:10.66).
