Alexander Leads Blue Hens Once Again

 

PHILADELPHIA -- Junior Aimee Alexander placed seventh overall to lead the University of Delaware women's cross country squad to a third place finish at the LaSalle Invitational Saturday afternoon at Belmont Plateau.

Marquette placed six runners in the top 10 to earn the team title with 17 points followed by the host Explorers (56), Delaware (76), and West Chester (96) in the four-team field.

Alexander (Carmel/Stormville, NY), who has led the Hens in all three races this season, ran to a time of 19:00.44 to place seventh overall and lead Delaware.

Marquette's Susan Barth won the individual title in a time of 17:54.44, besting the field by over 17 seconds.

Also for Delaware, Karen Reber (Pottsgrove/Pottstown, PA) placed 13th in 19:35.90, Dana Kolesar (Lower Merion/King of Prussia, PA) was 16th in 19:51.84, Monica Marchetta (Milton, MA HS) was 20th in 20:28.80, and Lisa Kutzing (Vandermuelen/Port Jefferson, NY) was 25th in 20:46.70. A total of 15 Blue Hen runners were among the 45 runners who competed.
