TULSA, OK -- Sophomore Regine Adrien (at right, center), who anchored the University of Delaware women’s rowing team’s Varsity Eight crew this past spring, has been selected to the College Rowing Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Region second team.

A biology major from Merrick, NY (Kellenberg Memorial High School), Adrien was one of 20 student-athlete honored on the first and second Mid Atlantic regional teams. The awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers from each of the five NCAA Division I regions. California, Michigan State, and Brown led the way with five all-region selections.

Adrien competed in all seven meets this past season and helped the Varsity Eights crew place third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, fifth in the petite finals at the ECAC Metro Championships, and fifth in the repechage finals at the Dad Vail Regatta.

As a freshman in 2007, she led the Blue Hen Novice Eights boat to the Colonial Athletic Association title and a third place finish at the ECAC Metro Championships. She also earned the team’s UD Sportsmanship Award.

Princeton dominated the All-Mid Atlantic Region squad with four selections, including first team picks Kristin Haraldsdottir, Lauren Wilkinson, Sara Hendershot, and coxswain Elizabeth Agnew, and second team pick Annie Gayman. Also named to the first team were Meg Gilley and Gracie Kaplan-Stein of Pennsylvania, Katherine Brewster-Duffy and Jennie Trayes of Bucknell, Ally Doodeman of Syracuse, Emily Tvetenstrand of Columbia, Fioina McFarland of Navy, and Laura Crotty of George Washington.

Joining Adrien on the second team were Gayman, Rebecca Donald, Kristen Haneman, and coxswain Carey Sloane of Pennsylvania, Caitlin Doolin of Bucknell, Natalie Mastracci of Syracuse, and Sarah Marsan of Massachusetts.

Delaware, led by fifth-year head coach Laura Slice, competed in seven events this past spring and placed third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships in Philadelphia.
