NEWARK, DE -- Ten members of the 2007 University of Delaware women’s rowing team have been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete team.
The 10 were honored by the CRCA for meeting all eligibility requirements, having at least sophomore eligibility, competed in at least 75 percent of her team’s meets, and maintain a cumulative grade point index of at least 3.5.
Honored Blue Hen student-athletes were senior Laura Beaufort (Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson), senior Maria Bellumori (Woolwich Township, NJ/Kingsway Regional), sophomore Katie Gooding Annapolis, MD/Annapolis), senior Lynn Hamski (Richboro, PA/Council Rock South), sophomore Nicolette Lotrionte (Bronx, NY/Ursuline School), junior Cami Off (Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Regional), senior Kenna Plangemann (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), sophomore Lana Rivers (Wilmington,DE/Wilmington Charter), senior Betsy Seeger (Millersville, MD/Archbishop Spaulding), and junior Justine Strausser (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township).
Plangemann, Beaufort, and Strausser were selected to the team for the second straight year.
Beaufort, a senior co-captain, is a political science and history major and carries a 3.63 gpa; Bellumori is a fitness management major with a 3.82 gpa; Gooding is a biology major with a 3.61 gpa; Hamski is an elementary major with a 3.84 gpa; Lotrionte is a political science and journalism major with a 3.69 gpa; Off is an English education major with a 3.75 gpa; Plangemann is a political science and history major with a 3.65 gpa; Rivers is a biology major with a 3.71 gpa; Seeger is a hotel, restaurant, and institutional management major with a 3.82 gpa; and Strausser is a biology major with a 3.65 gpa.
Off, the coxswain, Hamski, Gooding, Rivers, Bellumori, Strausser, and Lotrionte, were members of the Delaware Second Varsity Eights boat (at right) that placed fifth in the semifinals at the Dad Vail Regatta this spring and finished second at the Colonial Athletic Association championships, leading the Blue Hens to a second place team finish.
Plangemann, the coxswain, and Beaufort were members of the Delaware Varsity Eights crew that finished third at the CAA Championships, sixth at the ECAC Metro Championships, and fourth in the repechage round at the Dad Vail Regatta.
Seeger, who earlier this year received the UD Student Services for Athletes Outstanding Contributor Award, was a member of the Varsity Fours crew that placed fourth at the CAA championships and fourth in its heat the Dad Vail Regatta.
The Blue Hens were led this year by fourth-year head coach Laura Slice.
