Women Rowing Opens Spring Season By
Competing Against St. Joseph's and
Lehigh

PHILADELPHIA,
PA -- The University of Delaware women's
rowing team opened its 2005 spring season
by competing against St. Joseph's and
Lehigh Saturday morning on the Schuylkill
River.
The Blue
Hen second varsity eight boat of Kenna
Plangemann, Liz Martin, Nikki Jackowsky,
Christina Stanley, Lindsey Wood, Jenn
Boutin, Cathy Savarese (right), Stephanie
Miller, and Jamie Schoenewald posted
Delaware's only win of the day, as the
boat won its race in 7:33 to finish ahead
of St. Joseph's in 7:39, the Lehigh "A"
boat in 7:50, and the Lehigh "B" boat in
8:12.
The UD
freshman eight boat placed second in its
race in 7:52.9, finishing behind only the
St. Joseph's "A" boat in 7:49.9. The
Hawks "B" boat was third in 7:53.4, while
Lehigh finished fourth in 8:49.3.
Delaware's team consisted of Cami Off,
Justine Strausser, Ashley Sparano, Lauren
Taylor, Meghan Doletzky, Emily Canniff,
Lana Rivers, Stephanie Hendrixson, and
Kristen Cannatelli.
St.
Joseph's also won the varsity four race in
6:52, followed by the Delaware "A" boat
(Jill Goldman, Maria Bellumori, Lynn
Hamski, Katie Broullire, and Susan
Carbine) in 6:59, Lehigh in 7:06, and the
Blue Hen "B" boat (Callie Tegan, Laura
Belfi, Nicky Bradley, Carly Gonzalez,
Alyssa Hankins) in 7:09.
The Hawks
took the novice four event in 8:57.9,
while Delaware came in second in 9:26.9.
Delaware's team consisted of Callie Tegan,
Carly Gonzalez, Alyssa Hankins, Lindsay
Decktor, and Lily Chavarriaga
St.
Joseph's then completed the sweep of all
five races by winning the varsity eight
event in 7:23, ahead of Lehigh in 7:28 and
Delaware in 7:57. Delaware's team
consisted of Alison Harrington, Maureen
Gillen, Lane Kohl, Laura Beaufort, Melanie
Turner, Lyra Sawzin, Jess Kostick, Betsy
Seeger, and Emily McElwain
The Blue
Hens will return to action on Wednesday,
March 23 when Delaware competes against
Navy.
