October 13 - Navy Day
Regatta October 13 Navy Day Regatta at Philadelphia (Exhibition) The University of Delaware women's rowing team opened the 2001-2002 exhibition season by winning one event and placing in the top seven in three other events at the Navy Day Regatta. Delaware won the College Junior Varsity Eight event with a time of 16:35.8, placed third in the Lightweight Eight, fourth in the Varsity Eight race with a time of 16:23.8, and placed seventh in the Dad Vail Eight event in a time of 17:25.8. The Hens' College Junior Varsity Eight team of Lauren Baker, Lisa Hardy, Elizabeth McInturff, Jessica Ayers, Dawn Hussnatter, Betsy Ferry, Alison Conway, Leanna Ferrand, Erinn Batykefer won the race, edging runner-up Navy at 16.46. Delaware's lightweight team of Dana Hammond, Laura Muto, Susan Krause, Denise Burke, Tory Yanakos, Nicole Ferrari, Fay Schmid, Stef Lazorick, Dana Lohr also competed in the race and placed third overall (16:55.6). The Delaware Varsity Eight team posted a time of 16.23.8 to place fourth, behind winner Penn (15:36.43), Army, and Navy. The team consisted of Alli Garwood, Jess Colpo, Kylie Campbell, Lissa Kutz, Lauren Heller, Laura McDonald, Jen Suminski, Elizabeth Harris, Erin Quimby. The Delaware Dad Vail Eight team of rowed to a time of 17:25.8 to place seventh. Lehigh won the race (15:45.9) in a time of 15:45.9 followed by Army and LaSalle. Delaware's team included Kat Ahern, Elizabeth McGarry, Andrea Placke, Danah O'Connor, Janice Brown, Logan Thompson, Bizzy Schultz, Liz Florin, and Lyra Sawzin. Oct. 20 Head of the Charles Regatta at Boston (Exhibition) Delaware's Lightweight Eight team placed 12th out of 20 teams with a time of 18:24.33.The lineup included Dana Hammond, Laura Muto, Susan Krause, Denise Burke, Tory Yanakos, Nicole Ferrari, Fay Schmid, Stef Lazorick, Dana Lohr.
Oct. 27 Head of the Schuylkill Regatta at Philadelphia (Exhibition) Led by a third place finish by the Lightweight Eights team, the University of Delaware posted four Top 20 finishes at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. The Lightweight Eight team of Dana Hammond, Laura Muto, Susan Krause, Denise Burke, Tory Yanakos, Nicole Ferrari, Lyra Sawzin, Stef lazorick, and Dana Lohr rowed to a time of 15:29.3 to place third out of 11 teams. Villanova won with a time of 15:17.1. In the Championship Eights race, Delaware's A team of Alli Garwood, Jess Colpo, Kylie Campbell, Lissa Kutz, Lauren Heller, Betsy Ferry, Alison Conway, Lisa Hardy, and Erinn Batykefer placed 14th out of 22 teams in a time of 15:18.1 while the Blue Hen B team of Lauren Baker, Jessica Ayers, Elizabeth McInturff, Laura McDonald, Dawn Hussnatter, Leanna Ferrnad, Jen Suminski, Janice Brown, and Erin Quimby was 14th in 15:29.5. Penn won the race in 14:17.7. In the Novice Eights race, Delaware's team of Kat Campagnini, Julie Sinkosky, Lauren Fretz, Kathleen Servis, Michelle Whalen, Lindsay Greco, Dawnyl Boucek, Hannah Evans, and Emily McElwain placed 19th out of 48 teams with a time of 17:23.36. November 10 Frostbite Regatta at Philadelphia (Exhibition) Delaware took home five first place finishes, winning the Novice Fours (9:40.2); Lightweight Varsity Fours (8:50.7), Varsity Heavyweight Fours (9:34.1), Varsity Lightweight Eights (8:32.8), and Varsity Heavyweight B's (8:15.3). The Hens also placed third in the Novice Eights A's (9:40.2), third in the Heavyweight Eights A's (8:11.6), fourth in the Novice Eights B's (10:05.2), and fourth in the Varsity Heavyweight Eights C's (8:25.8). The Novice Fours team was made up of Melissa Shields, Lyra Sawzin, Michelle Whalen, Lindsay Greco, and Dawnyel Boucek; the Lightweight Varsity Fours team was made up of Alli Garwood, Laura Muto, Susan Krause, Nicole Ferrari, and Dana Lohr; the Novice Eights B team was made up of Laura Klinger, Maureen Gillen, Caitlin Guthinger, Kristen Howarth, Meredith Bullamore, Angela Ware, Courtney Bull, Lianna Steinheuser, Melissa Shields; the Novice Eights A team was made up of Kat Campagnini, Julie Sinkosky, Lauren Fretz, Kathleen Servis, Dawnyel Boucek, Lindsay Greco, Heather Hibsman, Hannah Evans, and Emily McElwain.
