Delaware Rowing Participates in Head of the Occoquan Exhibition

FAIRFAX, VA -- The University of Delaware women’s rowing team participated in the Head of the Occoquan Regatta in Fairfax, VA over the weekend of November 6.

The Blue Hens Varsity Eights boat of Alison Harrington, Laura Beaufort, Lane Kohl, Nikki Jackowsky, Jess Kostick, Liz Martin, Christina Stanley, Betsy Seeger and Cathy Savarese captured second place in a time of 19:25.85. George Washington won the race, followed by Delaware, George Mason, Thompson Boat Center and Loyola.

The Club Eights boat of Kenna Plangemann, Justine Strausser, Lindsey Wood, Carly Gonzalez, Rachel Thomas, Jenn Boutin, Ashley Sparano, Katie Broullire and Kristen Cannatelli finished third in 19:35.0. Alexandria Community rowing won the race in 19:15.69, and was followed by William & Mary, Delaware, Carnegie Mellon and George Mason.

The Novice Eights boat consisting of Millie Berry, Elizabeth Carey, Kaylin Carter, Kiersten Joesten, Lisa Ferrara, Taima McCartney, Liz Clark, Candace Quinn and Olivia Marinelli came in third out of 17 entries in a time of 20:16.90. William & Mary took first place, followed by Virginia Commonwealth, Delaware, American and Robert Morris.

In the Championship Fours race, the Delaware boat of Callie Tegan, Maria Bellumori, Lana Rivers, Stephanie Hendrixson and Lynn Hamski finished eighth in a time of 22:34.44. George Washington won the race in 20:41.91, followed by Penn State, Thompson Boat Center, Williamsburg Boat Club and Occoquan Boat Club.

The Head of the Occoquan Regatta concluded the Blue Hens fall exhibition season. The regular season kicks off March 11 at Saint Joseph’s.
