Cleveland, OH -- Blue Hens senior guard Tyresa Smith (right) will find out on April 4th if she is the first women's basketball player ever selected from the University of Delaware to play in the Women's National Basketball Association.

Smith (Dover, DE/Polytech), who was among 40 players invited to the WNBA’s predraft camp, is considered by experts to have an excellent change of being selected in the 13 team, three round draft.

The Draft will cap off a week-long celebration of events surrounding women’s basketball in Cleveland, the host of the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four.

The Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland’s Public Square will host the Draft, beginning at 1 p.m. ESPN2 will provide live first-round coverage while ESPNU and NBATV will provide continued live coverage of the second and third rounds from 2-3:30 p.m. In addition, WNBA.com will cover all three rounds, providing complete analysis and comprehensive information on all 13 teams’ selections.

Smith, a Kodak/WBCA Regional All-American, was a first-team All-CAA member and the CAA’s Defensive Player of the Year in each of the last two seasons.

The senior led the CAA in scoring and ranked 18th in Division I by averaging 19.8 points per game. Smith was also second on the team in rebounding and steals with 7.5 boards a game and 2.6 steals per game.

The Blue Hens finished tied for second in the Colonial Athletic Association regular season, advanced to the semi-finals of the CAA Tournament, and earned the schools first ever at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. Smith led the Blue Hens to 26 victories this season, tying a school-record, and she broke Cindy Johnson’s single-season scoring record with 632 points on the year.

Smith ends her tremendous career at Delaware as the second leading scorer and career leader in steals.
