NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware senior guard Tyresa Smith (Dover, DE/Polytech) was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Tournament Team Sunday at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The awards were announced after Old Dominion defeated James Madison, 78-70, in the CAA Championship game. The Monarchs earned the CAA’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament for the 16th straight season.
Joining Smith (at right) on the All-Tournament team, are Hofstra’s Cigi McCollin, James Madison’s Meredith Alexis and Shirley McCall, and Old Dominion’s Sherida Triggs. T.J. Jordan of Old Dominion was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player.
Smith tallied 41 points and 13 rebounds in Delaware’s two games in the CAA Tournament. The Blue Hens downed Virginia Commonwealth in the quarterfinals before falling to James Madison in the semifinal’s on Saturday.
Delaware will find out if it receives an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament Monday at 8 p.m. when the tournament field is announced. The Blue Hens, who competed in the WNIT the last two seasons, have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2001.
