Davis scores 24 of her team-high 26 points in the
second half

LEWISBURG, PA -- The University of
Delaware rode a late scoring burst to top host Bucknell
University 86-66 in women's basketball action at Davis
Gymnasium Wednesday night.
With the score knotted at 58-58 with 5:55
left in the game, senior Lindsay Davis hit the Blue
Hens first three-point basket of the night, putting the Blue
Hens up for good in a torrid second-half run in which
Delaware outscored the Bison, 28-8.
Davis led the second half charge by
scoring 24 of her team-high 26 points in the final half of
play, while Christina Rible grabbed a game-high 13
rebounds to go along with her 20 points and five
assists.
Coming off a loss to UNC Greensboro
Saturday, Blue Hens' head coach Tina Martin praised
her team's leadership. "Coming off the adversity of this
weekend, our seniors knew what they had to do. Megan
Dellegrotti, Lindsay Davis, and Christina Rible all stepped
up and played big for us."
Freshman Julie Sailer added 16
points, becoming the first freshman to score in double
figures in her first three career games since Colleen
McNamara achieved the feat in the 1991-92 season.
Bucknell guard Molly Creamer led all
scorers with 30 points and seven assists, but it wasn't
enough as the Bison (3-1) dropped their first game of the
season.
The Blue Hens (2-1) will play their
2001-2002 home opener when they face-off against Princeton
University at the Bob Carpenter Center on Saturday at 4
p.m.
